The Bells of St. Mary's

"The Bells of St. Mary's" sheet music from 1945.   Douglas Furber and A. Emmett Adams wrote "The Bells of St. Mary's" in 1914 after visiting St. Mary's Church, Southampton in England; it was published in 1917. It was first recorded and released by Frances Alda on Dec. 1, 1919 / 1920. Deanna Durbin with the Jack Renard Orchestra sang it on the Texaco Town radio show June 20, 1936. Vera Lynn with Raye Jenkins' Quartet record it in 1938. Bing Crosby sang it in the movie by the same name in 1945. Bing Crosby with John Scott Trotter and His Orchestra recorded it in 1945. Gordon MacRae with the Orchestra conducted by Van Alexander recorded it in November 1959. Perry Como recorded it on June 14, 1962 for his " By Request" album; it wasn't released till 2001 for "A Perry Como Christmas" album. Vic Damone recorded it in 1991. The Lawrence Welk Orchestra preformed it on The Lawrence Welk Show in 1979.

  "I've Got a Pocketful of Dreams" sheet music from 1938.    It was first recorded by Swing and Sway with Sammy Kaye on May 9, 1938. Bing Crosby, Fred MacMurray, and Donald O'Connor introduced it in the 1938 movie Sing You Sinners. 1938 radio promo of Sing You Sinners. Bing Crosby with John Scott Trotter and His Orchestra recorded it in 1938. Russ Morgan and His Orchestra recorded it in 1938. Hal Kemp and His Orchestra with Judy Starr recorded it in 1938. Barbara Lea with The Johnny Windhurst Quintets recorded in February 1957.  

Edelweiss

   "Edelweiss" sheet music from 1965. It was introduced in the 1959 musical play The Sound of Music by Theodore Bikel and Mary Martin. It was first recorded by Theodore Bikel and Mary Martin on Nov. 22, 1959.  Bill Lee dubbed Christopher Plummer singing it in the 1965 movie The Sound of Music. It was recorded in 1994 by Julie Andrews . The Von Trapps singing an impromptu performance in 2013.  

Easter Parade

Marilyn Miller and Clifton Webb introduced it in the 1933 Broadway musical revue As Thousands Cheer.   It was first recorded and released by Leo Reisman and His Orchestra with Clifton Webb on Oct. 3, 1933. Don Ameche singing "Easter Parade" in the 1938 movie Alexander's Ragtime Band. It was recorded in 1942 by Harry James and His Orchestra. Bing Crosby and Marilyn Maxwell with John Scott Trotter and His Orchestra sang it on the radio on the "Kraft Music Hall" on Apr. 6, 1944. It was recorded in 1947 by Perry Como. It was recorded in March 1949 by Judy Garland and Fred Astaire .    

Wringle Wrangle

  "Wringle Wrangle" sheet music from 1956. Fess Parker introduced it in the 1956 movie Westward Ho, the Wagons! It was first released by Fess Parker in December 1956. It was recorded in January 1957 by Bill Hayes with Don Costa His Orchestra & Chorus .  It was recorded in January 1957 by Vaughn Monroe with Joe Reisman's Orchestra and Chorus .

It was first released by Fred Astaire with Johnny Green and His Orchestra in February 1936. Ginger Rogers with Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra recorded it in 1936. Louis Armstrong recorded it on Feb. 4, 1936. The Boswell Sister s recorded it on Feb. 12, 1936. Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians with Carmen Lombardo recorded it in 1936. Bob Crosby and His Orchestra preforming "I'm Putting All My Eggs in One Basket."

Remember

   "Remember" sheet music from 1925. It was first recorded by Franklyn Baur on Aug. 12, 1925. It was first released by the Isham Jones Orchestra in November 1925. John McCormack recorded it on Oct. 14, 1925. Perry Como sang it on the Treasury Star Parade radio show in April 1943. Frank Parker sang it on a 1944 radio broadcast. Dinah Shore sang it on TV as part of a melody in 1959. Connie Francis recorded it in August 1963.

Love in Bloom

  "Love in Bloom" sheet music from 1934.  It was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song in 1934, but lost to "The Continental."   It is probably best known as Jack Benny's theme song.  It was first introduced in the 1934 movie She Loves Me Not , by Bing Crosby and Kitty Carlisle . It was first recorded and released by Bing Crosby with Irving Aaronson and His Commanders on July 5, 1934. Lew Stone and His Band with Al Bowlly recorded it in 1934. Dennis Day singing "Love in Bloom." Bing Crosby with Spike Jones and His City Slickers preformed a comedic version on Bing Crosby's Philco Radio Time show on Oct. 23, 1946. The Platters recorded it in January 1959.
